Audit Reveals Half of Biden’s Twitter Followers Are Fake as Musk Pauses Purchase: Newsweek

Nearly half of President Joe Biden’s followers on Twitter, which number about 22.2 million, are fake accounts, according to an audit conducted by Newsweek.

Using an audit tool provided by software firm SparkToro, Newsweek discovered 49.3 percent of all Biden followers to be “fake followers.” The analysis took into consideration multiple factors such as new users, default profile images, and location data.

This comes just as billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has paused his plans to buy Twitter for $44 billion due to concerns about fake accounts.

“20% fake/spam accounts, while 4 times what Twitter claims, could be *much* higher. My offer was based on Twitter’s SEC filings being accurate. Yesterday, Twitter’s CEO publicly refused to show proof of <5%. This deal cannot move forward until he does,” Musk wrote in a May 17 tweet.

Having 20 percent fewer users would mean that the company might be overvalued. As such, paying $44 billion with one in five users being fake might not be a good deal.

Musk had agreed to purchase Twitter at $54.20 per share. If he were to back out from the deal, the entrepreneur would be required to pay the company a termination fee of $1 billion and might face litigation.

According to a joint analysis published on May 15 by SparkToro and Followerwonk, 19.42 percent of a sampled set of Twitter accounts were found to be fake or spam accounts.

For the analysis, they used 44,058 public Twitter accounts that were active during the previous 90 days, selected randomly from a set of more than 130 million active public profiles.

On May 16, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal published a tweet thread about fake accounts on the network.

“We suspend over half a million spam accounts every day, usually before any of you even see them on Twitter. We also lock millions of accounts each week that we suspect may be spam—if they can’t pass human verification challenges (captchas, phone verification, etc),” Agrawal wrote.

However, the “hard challenge” is that many accounts that seem fake are actually profiles of real people, he said. In contrast, some of the spam accounts can appear totally legitimate but might end up being the “most dangerous.”

According to the company’s estimates every quarter, fewer than 5 percent of monetizable daily active users (mDAU) are spam accounts. For the last four quarters, these estimates have held up, Agrawal claimed, while insisting that the error margins on the estimates give the company confidence in its public statements.

But the company’s estimates cannot be mimicked by third parties because Twitter can’t share the private user information that would be required to do such an analysis, he added.

“Let me state the obvious: spam harms the experience for real people on Twitter, and therefore can harm our business. As such, we are strongly incentivized to detect and remove as much spam as we possibly can, every single day. Anyone who suggests otherwise is just wrong,” Agrawal said.

Twitter Executive Mocks Elon Musk for Believing Public can ‘Make Their Own Decision’ on Platform … ‘The Rest of Us Who Have Been Here Believe in Something that’s Good for the Planet, and Not Just to Give People Free Speech’

  • Project Veritas published a new story on Tuesday night featuring footage of Twitter Lead Client Partner Alex Martinez discussing the company’s ideology, criticizing the acquisition of the company by Elon Musk and at times denigrating Musk for his expressed views on free speech.
  • Martinez: “Right now, we don’t make profit. So, I’m going to say ideology, which is what led us into not being profitable.”
  • Martinez on free speech: “The rest of us who have been here believe in something that’s good for the planet and not to give people free speech.”
  • Martinez on censorship: “People don’t know how to make a rational decision If you don’t put out — correct things that are supposed to be out in the public, right?”
  • Martinez on Musk: “Elon Musk as a person is whatever. I don’t- like, he’s a loony toon. He has- he has Asperger’s.”
  • Martinez on Musk: “He has Asperger’s… So he’s special. We all know that. And That’s fine. So here, no wonder he’s going to say some f***ing crazy sh*t because he’s special.”

[NEW YORK – May 17, 2022] Project Veritas has published the second part of their series on Twitter. This story features undercover footage of Lead Client Partner, Alex Martinez, an employee for the tech giant, who sometimes speaks on behalf of the company at events. This footage shows a very candid Martinez speaking about how the company’s “ideology” led them to be less “profitable,” among other incendiary comments.

In the video, Alex Martinez also criticizes Elon Musk’s vision of free speech on the platform saying, “The rest of us who have been here believe in something that’s good for the planet and not just to give people free speech.” He also broached the subject of censorship on Twitter saying, “People don’t know how to make a rational decision if you don’t put out — correct things that are supposed to be out in the public, right?”

Despite this, Martinez acknowledges that this very reality seems to be what Musk wants to change. “If we’re implementing all these rules…and Elon wants to dismantle them, then technically our ideology has led us to not making money because we’re not making money, and Elon wants to turn it the other way so that we can make money,” Martinez said.

Martinez even made distasteful comments about Musk having Asperger’s. “He has Asperger’s,” Martinez says at one point adding, “so, he’s special.” Going further, Martinez later says, “We all know that and that’s fine. So here, no one’s going to say some f**king crazy sh*t because he’s special.”

Last May, as he was hosting Saturday Night Live, Musk revealed that he was the first person to host the show with Asperger’s. In the video published on Tuesday, Martinez can be seen saying, “I’m like- you’re special needs! You’re literally special needs, literally though, you really are.  So, I can’t even take what you’re saying seriously cause you’re special.”

Ironically enough, Martinez can also be seen in the footage discussing an internal company memo Twitter administrative staff sent in the aftermath of Project Veritas’ first part of the series.

“It’s [Project Veritas] like some group that’s just trying to out the employees,” Martinez says. “Like, they’re trying to go on dates with them, like this, and record them.”

At the time of this writing, Twitter has yet to respond to a request for comment.

Twitter Senior Engineer Talks Elon Musk Takeover in NEW Undercover Video: ‘Twitter Does Not Believe in Free Speech’ … Admits Employees at Tech Giant are ‘Commie as F**k’

  • Project Veritas published a new story on Monday night featuring footage of Twitter Senior Engineer, Siru Murugesan, discussing how employees at the tech company “hate” Elon Musk’s impending acquisition of Twitter among several other explosive soundbites.
  • Leaving no doubt to one of the primary sources of the rift between Musk and employees at Twitter, Murugesan at one point says: “Twitter does not believe in free speech… Elon believes in free speech.”
  • Murugesan: “Our jobs are at stake, he’s a capitalist and we weren’t really operating as capitalists, more like very socialist. Like we’re all like commie as f**k.”
  • Murugesan on attempts to prevent the Musk deal: “We did all we could to like revolt against it. A lot of employees were revolting against it.”
  • Murugesan on Twitter offering equal access to both parties: “I don’t know if two parties can truly coexist on one platform.”
  • Murugesan on how Twitter employees are dealing with the changes at Twitter: “They’re like, ‘this would be my last day if it happens…’ a lot has changed. Like, we’re stress eating a lot. Like, we’re all worried for our jobs.”

In the video, Twitter Sr. Engineer, Siru Murugesan, says many of his colleagues have voiced “this would be my last day if it happens,” referring to Musk’s high publicized intended purchase of Twitter. He also says employees at Twitter are “stress-eating” and “worried for our jobs.”

More significant than those soundbites are the reasons he says employees at Twitter feel this way.

“Our jobs are at stake; he’s a capitalist and we weren’t really operating as capitalists, more like very socialist,” Murugesan says before adding, “we’re all like commie as f**k.”

Murugesan also pointed to free speech being one of the core issues employees at Twitter have with its new likely owner, Elon Musk.

When asked about the difference between Twitter’s definition of free speech and Musk’s, the Sr. Engineer left no room for interpretation. “Twitter does not believe in free speech,” said Murugesan answering the undercover journalist.

Back in March, Musk said he was a “free speech absolutist” and clarified his comments further adding, “By free speech, I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people.”

Murugesan also explained how Twitter employees did all they could to “revolt against” Musk’s takeover of the company.

“We did all we could to like revolt against it. A lot of employees were revolting against it, but at the end of the day, the board of directors have the say.”

He added that he thought the board “… acted on their best interests ‘cause they didn’t want to get sued…. they’re always looking out for themselves at the end of the day.”

At the time of this writing, Twitter has yet to respond to a request for comment.

New DOJ Notes From 2017 Reveal FBI Panic After Trump Tweeted That He Knew He Was Being Spied On | Truth Over News

New DOJ Notes From 2017 Reveal FBI Panic After Trump Tweeted That He Knew He Was Being Spied On | Truth Over News

TRUTH OVER NEWSJEFF CARLSON AND HANS MAHNCKE

Newly released notes taken by high-level Department of Justice officials at a March 6, 2017 meeting with FBI leadership expose some of the lengths the FBI went to, to cover up their corruption and malfeasance in spying on President Donald Trump.

The notes were released earlier this week by lawyers for Hillary Clinton’s campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann as part of an effort to clear Sussmann for having lied to the FBI. In reality, while the notes do little to exonerate Sussmann, they provide quite a bit to incriminate the FBI.

The meeting at which the notes were taken took place just two days after Trump’s infamous March 4, 2017 tweet in which he accused former President Obama of having wiretapped Trump Tower. Trump’s tweet panicked FBI leadership, who were unsure exactly how much Trump knew about their efforts to set him up. In response to Trump’s tweet, they tried to cover their tracks with another layer of lies and deception.

Elon Musk Says Biden Wrong to Think He Was ‘Elected to Transform the Country’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has weighed in on his thoughts about the 2024 Presidential election, stating that while he firmly believes former President Donald Trump should have his Twitter account reinstated, a “less divisive candidate” would be a better option.

The businessman also took aim at President Joe Biden, writing on Twitter on May 13 that the Democrat’s mistake is that “he thinks he was elected to transform the country,” but that “actually everyone just wanted less drama.”

Musk previously told a Financial Times conference on Tuesday that Twitter’s decision to ban Trump was “morally bad” and said he would reverse the platform’s decision.

“I do think that it was not correct to ban Donald Trump,” Musk told the conference. “I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice,” he added.

Trump, however, has stated that he has no plans to return to Twitter as he concentrated on building his own Truth Social platform, which is set to launch on a web browser at the end of May, Chief Executive Devin Nunes said earlier this month.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News last month. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”

Musk told his Twitter followers on May 13 that while he believes a “less divisive candidate would be better in 2024,” however, the businessman still thinks the former president’s account on the platform should be restored.

He also joked that he would also prefer a candidate that is “also younger than 8,000 years old.”

Trump was permanently banned from the social networking site in January 2021, with the tech giant citing his alleged violation of the company’s “Glorification of Violence” policy following the breach of the U.S. Capitol. Facebook and YouTube followed through with similar bans.

It was announced last month that Musk would purchase Twitter for $44 billion, promoting conservatives to call for him to reinstate Trump’s account.

Monica Crowley, former assistant secretary of the Treasury under Trump, said in a tweet, “Now that Elon Musk is Twitter’s largest shareholder, he should demand the end of political censorship, company-wide reform, and the reinstatement of President Trump.”

Errol Webber, a Republican congressional candidate from California, wrote on Twitter that it is “time to get this platform back to its former glory.”

“Step one—bring back President Trump! Step two—give everyone who has been banned a second chance. Step three—end all forms of political and other censorship,” he continued.

It has been reported that Trump is considering another run for the presidency in 2024 after losing his reelection bid in 2020. A recent Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey showed Trump leading both Biden and Vice President Harris in a hypothetical 2024 race.

Elon Musk: Twitter Obviously Has ‘Strong’ Left-Wing Bias

Telsa CEO Elon Musk, who is currently attempting a takeover of Twitter, again expressed concerns about the platform’s left-wing political bias—in response to a complaint the company isn’t doing enough to quash threats of violence coming from pro-abortion users.

A political commentator, Mike Cernovich, flagged a post from a Rewire News Group journalist who posted a call for violence against pro-life groups, suggesting that Musk take action if or when he takes over Twitter.

“Here you go @elonmusk, when Twitter employees invariably lie to you about enforcement policy, maybe they can explain why a verified account is allowed to incite terrorism without any care in the world about being banned,” Cernovich wrote at Musk.

And Musk replied that “Twitter [obviously] has a strong left wing bias.”

“Like I said, my preference is to hew close to the laws of countries in which Twitter operates,” he continued. “If the citizens want something banned, then pass a law to do so, otherwise it should be allowed.”

The journalist for Rewire, Caroline Reilly, appeared to suggest more violence after a pro-life group’s office was firebombed in Wisconsin over the weekend, coming in response to a Supreme Court draft opinion having been leaked last week suggesting the high court would overturn Roe v. Wade. The individual who attacked the office also included a pro-abortion comment in reference to the Supreme Court decision.

“More of this. May these people never know a moment of peace or safety until they rot in the ground,” she wrote in a since-deleted Twitter post on Sunday, responding to a New York Times post about the Winsconsin incident. The Epoch Times has contacted Rewire News Group for comment.

It’s not clear whether Twitter took action against Reilly.

Twitter in the past has drawn criticism for having an explicit left-wing bias. During the lead-up to the 2020 election, the company blocked users from sharing a New York Post article detailing business deals and emails that were sourced from Hunter Biden’s laptop, and it also locked out the newspaper from its account for more than two weeks.

Last year, Twitter suspended former President Donald Trump, claiming that his comments around the 2020 election violated its policies, although the firm continues to allow authoritarian regimes and dictators to use the platform.

The San Francisco-based company has also adopted rules that favor left-wing viewpoints, including placing bans on using certain pronouns for certain people. Earlier this year, the Babylon Bee satire website was suspended for making a post declaring federal health official Rachel Levine, who is a biological male also known as Richard Levine, as “Man of the Year.”

Aspen Disinformation Group Includes Twitter Exec Who Censored Hunter Biden Story

Commissioners spread Jussie Smollett hoax, censored unflattering RBG interview

The Twitter executive responsible for blocking stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop is one of several advisers to the Aspen Institute’s disinformation commission.

Yoel Roth is one of several questionable advisers to Aspen’s Commission on Information Disorder, which on Monday released its much-anticipated report. Commission members include Katie Couric, who recently acknowledged that she edited comments on National Anthem protests out of a 2016 interview with Ruth Bader Ginsburg to preserve the justice’s reputation with liberals. Another commissioner, Rashad Robinson, helped fuel actor Jussie Smollett’s hate crime hoax.

Commission members’ censorship of legitimate news stories could undercut their lofty mission. The commission blamed “decreasing levels of public trust” in public institutions for the crisis, which it dubs a “whole-of-society problem that can have life-or-death consequences.” Its report calls for Congress and the White House to take action to counteract disinformation.

Roth, the head of site integrity at Twitter, blocked access to an Oct. 14, 2020, New York Post article regarding emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop. Roth told the Federal Elections Commission he blocked the story in part because the intelligence community had briefed him that foreign governments might release hacked materials prior to the election. No evidence has emerged that Biden’s laptop was stolen or hacked, and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has since acknowledged that the company should not have blocked links to the story.

The Aspen Commission report criticizes Twitter and other social media companies for failures to rein in disinformation but does not cite Twitter’s censorship of the Biden article.

The tech billionaire who funded the commission, Craig Newmark, has sponsored research that pushed disinformation about Biden’s laptop. Newmark paid for a study from New York University that asserted that social media companies are not biased against conservatives. The report defended Twitter’s decision to block the Hunter Biden laptop story and pushed the unsubstantiated claim that the news reports were based on “stolen” documents.

Undisclosed in either the Aspen Institute report or the New York University study is that Newmark donated more than $100,000 to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

Robinson, the president of the racial justice group Color of Change, repeatedly circulated the false claim that Smollett, who is black and gay, was attacked by two white Trump supporters who hurled bigoted slurs at him. Robinson pushed the hate crime allegation even after evidence emerged that Smollett staged the attack.

Another commission adviser, Renee DiResta, advised American Engagement Technologies, a tech company that created fake online personas to stifle the Republican vote in the 2017 special Senate election in Alabama. The company, which was funded by progressive tech billionaire Reid Hoffman, created fake Russian bots to follow the Republican candidate. DiResta denied knowledge of the Alabama initiative and later joined another tech company, New Knowledge, that took part in the disinformation project.

The Aspen Institute did not respond to requests for comment.

Texas Hospital Suspends Doctor’s Privileges After She Voices Concerns Over Vaccine Mandates

Texas hospital announced that it has suspended the privileges of a doctor who posted concerns on social media about COVID-19 vaccine mandates and suggested that ivermectin may be able to treat the virus.

Dr. Mary Bowden, an ear, nose, and throat doctor at Houston Methodist Hospital, posted what was called “dangerous misinformation” that’s “not based in science” about the virus, the hospital announced on Twitter. The firm didn’t elaborate on the so-called misinformation and didn’t explain how her social media claims aren’t scientifically factual.

“Dr. Mary Bowden, who recently joined the medical staff at Houston Methodist Hospital, is using her social media accounts to express her personal and political opinions about the COVID-19 vaccine and treatments,” Houston Methodist, which drew national headlines for becoming one of the first hospital systems in the United States to mandate vaccines for all its employees earlier in 2021, wrote on Twitter.

Patty Muck, a spokesperson for the hospital, confirmed to media outlets over the weekend that Bowden’s privileges were suspended.

“The physician’s privileges at Houston Methodist have been suspended,” Muck wrote in an email to the Washington Post.

When contacted by The Epoch Times, a separate spokesperson for the hospital sent a statement that echoed several of its Twitter posts. The spokesperson didn’t elaborate on the suspension.

Last week, Bowden wrote on her Twitter account that “vaccine mandates are wrong” and included a screenshot of a message that apparently came from an individual who told her that “what the government is doing to its citizens in the United States is incomprehensible.” She also used her account to suggest that the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin may be able to treat COVID-19 symptoms.

In recent weeks, podcaster Joe Rogan and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers both publicly confirmed that they took ivermectin after they were each diagnosed with COVID-19. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) haven’t recommended the drug to be used for treating the virus.

“Ivermectin might not be as deadly as everyone said it was. Speak up!” Bowden said on Nov. 10.

Bowden’s attorney, Steve Mitby, told local media outlets that the doctor has treated more than 2,000 COVID-19 patients and said she isn’t against vaccines.

“Like many Americans, Dr. Bowden believes that people should have a choice and believes that all people, regardless of vaccine status, should have access to the same high-quality health care,” Mitby said.

Speaking to local media outlet Click2Houston, Bowden, who also runs her own private practice, BreatheMD, said she had a “great relationship” with Houston Methodist.

But the “issues with vaccines and ivermectin really go against patient autonomy and their right to choose their treatment,” she said.

“All of my comments are backed by clinical experience,” Bowden told the Houston Chronicle. “I have been open seven days a week since the pandemic began, performing over 80,000 COVID tests and treating over 2,000 patients with COVID.”

Mitby’s law firm didn’t respond to a request for comment by press time.

The Threat From TikTok Is Real: Congress Needs to Wake Up

On Oct. 26, TikTok executive Michael Beckerman was asked by members of U.S. Congress if the app shares data with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Although Beckerman said no, there is reason to think otherwise.

With all this talk of Instagram, it’s easy to forget that other problematic apps exist. In fact, according to a comprehensive survey carried out by analysts at Piper Sandler, Instagram isn’t even that popular among U.S. teens.

Aptly titled “Taking Stock With Teens,” the 91-page report outlines the responses of 10,000 American teenagers. Just 22 percent of respondents listed Instagram as their app of choice; interestingly, 30 percent named TikTok as their favorite app.

The popularity of TikTok is particularly revealing—and, more importantly, particularly worrying. Launched in its current form three years ago, the social media app now has 1 billion active monthly users worldwide; rather incredibly, it has been downloaded in the United States more than 200 million times. Why should we be worried? After all, it’s just a harmless app, right?

Wrong.

As tensions between the United States and China continue to rise, the CCP has upped its cyberespionage game. Contrary to popular belief, TikTok is not a wholly unserious app designed to spread joy around the world. Created by ByteDance, a company with close ties to the CCP, TikTok should be viewed with a great degree of suspicion. As the Wall Street Journal reported back in June, the CCP now expects tech companies, including ByteDance, to share all its data with Party members.

At the very same time the CCP demanded access to data, TikTok introduced a new biometric policy solely catered to its U.S.-based users. The app now takes two key pieces of biometric data—“faceprints” and “voiceprints”—from every single U.S.-based user. The former involves the collection of digitally recorded representation of a person’s face; the latter involves recording different aspects of a user’s voice, including resonance, reverberation, intonation, rhythm, and pacing.

With at least 100 million users in the United States, that’s a lot of personal information. Also, why would TikTok, a company with headquarters in Beijing, require this sort of information from U.S.-based users? More importantly, why is this policy aimed solely at U.S.-based users? This is a question Congress needed to ask Beckerman. It didn’t.

TikTok

Could the CCP Be Weaponizing TikTok?

According to former employees, the answer appears to be yes. By providing users with algorithmically tailored videos, TikTok can easily be used to disseminate disinformation.

According to Kara Frederick, a fellow at the Center for a New American Security, this makes the app the perfect vehicle for spreading pro-CCP propaganda. Young Americans spend an inordinate amount of time on TikTok. In fact, American app users now spend more time on TikTok than they do on YouTube.

Instead of asking if the CCP would ever use TikTok to influence young, impressionable Americans, a better question to ask is this: why wouldn’t it use the app to influence Americans? After all, it already uses Twitter to spread harmful propaganda.

As the nature of warfare changes, with boots on the ground being replaced by cyberhacks and killware, the threats we face also change.

TikTok is now the fastest growing app in the world; it provides a window into the lives of millions of Americans. The CCP already uses similar apps to spy on its own citizens, according to a recent report by Cure53, a German cybersecurity firm. We must wake up to the realities now facing us: If something can be weaponized, it will be weaponized. The United States and China are currently engaged in a new cold war; with the latter busy spreading disinformation about the former. The U.S. government should be on full alert.

Which brings us back to the potential threat posed by TikTok. Congress is responsible for making laws that influence the daily lives of 330 million Americans; rather alarmingly, it doesn’t appear to understand the threat posed by social media apps. Furthermore, the Biden administration doesn’t seem to care. In June, at the very same time as the aforementioned WSJ story was published, President Joe Biden chose to revoke and replace executive orders banning TikTok.

Now, China, a country known for extensive cyberespionage operations, is free to use the app to further divide a country that has never been more divided. Charles de Gaulle, the former president of France, once called silence “the ultimate weapon of power.” Today, however, social media is the ultimate weapon. The Chinese Communist Party knows this. Sadly, the U.S. government doesn’t. Such ignorance could prove to be very costly.

Poll: Majority of Americans Say Big Tech Censorship of Hunter Laptop Story Interfered With Election

Over half of Americans believe media censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story constitutes election interference, a new survey finds.

The survey from the Media Research Center found 49 percent of respondents said it was inappropriate for social media sites to suppress an October 2020 New York Post report that showed Hunter promised Ukrainian business partners access to his father. Twitter suspended the Postaccount following publication and blocked users from sharing the link. Fifty-two percent of respondents said the blackout constituted election interference.

Big tech has come under fire over the past year for censoring posts on hot-button issues. Facebook has regularly removed or suppressed content that suggests COVID-19 escaped from a Chinese lab. The platform also removed posts from a Gold Star mother critical of Biden’s handling of the death of her son. Twitter this month suspended the account of Rep. Jim Banks (R., Ind.) after he referred to a transgender Biden official as a man.

The Media Research Center survey found that the ban on the Hunter Biden story also shaped voters’ perceptions of Joe Biden. Almost 30 percent of respondents said they would have been less likely to vote for Biden if they had been aware of evidence Biden lied about “knowledge of his son Hunter’s overseas business dealings.”

When the story first broke, media outlets labeled it Russian disinformation, even though there was no evidence that Russian agents were behind the story or that the emails had been falsified. The survey found that line has stuck with many voters, with 30 percent still saying the story was Russian disinformation.

Dan Gainor, a vice president at the Media Research Center, said the survey showed “people are finally catching on to how much we’re getting manipulated by big tech.” He framed the survey results as a reflection of widespread concerns about self-rule, asking the Washington Free Beacon, “How can democratically elected countries survive if big tech decides it wants to pick who wins the election?”

China, CNN, and COVID-19 Misinformation

Last month, CNN published a rather alarming story that ran with the following headline: “Pro-China misinformation operation attempting to exploit US Covid divisions.”

In the words of the author, Zachary Cohen, a “pro-Chinese government online influence operation is targeting Americans in an effort to exploit divisions over the Covid-19 pandemic.”

This, of course, is alarming. The idea that the Chinese Communist Party is attempting to further divide a country that is already deeply divided should concern us all.

However, CNN is also guilty of running a “misinformation operation to exploit COVID divisions.” Let me explain.

In September, Joe Rogan announced that he had contracted COVID-19. The outspoken podcast host disclosed that he had taken Ivermectin, which was prescribed to him by a doctor, to treat the disease. CNN referred to Ivermectin as a “horse dewormer.” In the words of CNN host Anderson Cooper, the drug was “something more often used to deworm horses.”

In fact, Ivermectin has saved the lives of hundreds of millions of people. It is used to treat both humans and animals, and was used to treat the former long before it was used to treat the latter—a fact that was intentionally omitted from the “Joe Rogan takes horse dewormer narrative.”

Shortly after recovering from COVID-19, Rogan wasted no time in taking aim at CNN for its dishonest, borderline slanderous remarks.

Interestingly, Rogan had support from an unlikely source. In response to the “news” network’s inaccurate coverage, Mary Katherine Ham, a CNN contributor, took to Twitter to voice her outrage. According to the journalist, the coverage surrounding Rogan was thoroughly “dishonest.” Instead of reporting factual information, she argued, CNN opted to “dunk” on the influential commentator. For taking a stand against her employer, Ham should be applauded.

I reached out to CCN for comment on the rather controversial matter. However, no comments were offered.

The “Rogan takes Ivermectin” narrative has played out like a Netflix series, full of twists and turns, heroes and villains, lies and deceit, condemnation and conceit. In the middle of October, the narrative took another twist—Rogan invited Dr. Sanjay Gupta on his podcast. Gupta, for the uninitiated, is CNN’s resident doctor. Throughout the episode, which comes highly recommended, Gupta, not surprisingly, looked more than a little intimidated. Asked if he was embarrassed to work for a network that spreads lie after lie, Gupta offered Rogan a half-hearted apology. The gracious host appeared to accept. Case closed, or so it appeared. A couple of days after the interview went live, Don Lemmon, one of CNN’s most famous and most controversial employees, invited Gupta on his show. Rather incredibly, Lemon had Gupta retract the aforementioned apology. Rogan, in return, had some rather harsh words for Lemon. Expect more twists in this rather trippy tale.

Although CNN has shamed itself with its disingenuous storylines, it doesn’t have a monopoly on misinformation. In the first week of October, The New York Times’ Apoorva Mandavilli wrote an article designed to spread inordinate amounts of fear. According to the author, “nearly 900,000 children have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.”

Twenty-four hours later, a correction was issued. The actual number of hospitalizations was, in fact, 63,000. In other words, Mandavilli had exaggerated the number by 837,000 cases. But, hey, why let facts get in the way of a really good story?

Because of the proliferation of misinformation surrounding the virus, millions of Americans are left scared and confused. According to a Gallup poll, “92% overstate the risk that unvaccinated people will be hospitalized, and 62% overstate the risk for vaccinated people.” The authors noted that “political affiliation has been a strong predictor of attitudes and behaviors related to disease risks and mitigation.” Those on the left are more likely to exaggerate the threat, while those on the right are more likely to underplay it. When it comes to the threat posed by COVID-19, the MSM’s willingness to spread fear and hysteria, rather than facts and honesty, is nothing short of shameful.

Today, ideologically-driven reporting starts with a conclusion and works its way back to the beginning. Objective analysis, now replaced by predetermined scripts, is considered quaint, even boring. The news has become entertainment—a story’s credibility is judged not by its importance but on its inherent shock value. Such an approach to reporting is a recipe for unquantifiable amounts of disaster. People are left disoriented, scratching their heads, desperately attempting to separate the factual from the fictional. The mouth can only speak what the eyes see and the ears hear; sadly, we are seeing and hearing a lot of lies. Is it any wonder that Americans’ trust in mainstream media is at an all-time low?

As you can see, one needn’t live in China to be fed fact-free narratives.

Twitter is being sued for letting Saudi spies inside the company

A prominent human rights activist is accusing Twitter of failing to protect him against Saudi spies inside the company.

A prominent human rights activist and Saudi dissident is suing Twitter for allegedly hiring two men who acted as spies for the Saudi government. The suit accuses Twitter of negligence in its failure to detect the two spies inside the company — who are currently under indictment from U.S. federal prosecutors — and prevent them from stealing personal information for the Saudi government.

Ali Al-Ahmed, the leader of the human-rights investigation agency Institute for Gulf Affairs, is known as a prominent critic of the current Saudi regime and was granted asylum to remain in the United States in 1998. The suit filed Oct. 14 in the Northern District of California names both Twitter and the two alleged spies as defendants; Al-Ahmed already has a second suit underway against Twitter in the Southern District of New York, where he is claiming that the company’s hiring of the two men eventually led to the imprisonment and death of activists in Saudi Arabia.

The two men named in the suit have both been indicted by U.S. federal prosecutors for working at Twitter and passing private information to the Saudi government from 2013 to 2015, one as a site reliability engineer and the other as a media partnerships manager.

The claim filed Thursday in California alleges that Al-Ahmed’s personal information, including private conversations and connections with activists in Saudi Arabia, was stolen by these two individuals and sold to the Saudi government, and that Twitter should have known that these two men were unfit employees and should have done more to protect his personal information.

The suit also alleges that Al-Ahmed’s Arabic-language Twitter account was suspended in 2018 and has not been reinstated despite multiple attempts at appeal, and accuses the company of keeping Al-Ahmed’s account offline because of its interest in maintaining users in Saudi Arabia. “While Twitter may wish to play the victim of state-sponsored espionage, Twitter’s conduct in punishing the victims of this intrigue, including Mr. Al-Ahmed, tells a far different story: one of ratification, complicity, and/or adoption tailored to appease a neigh beneficial owner and preserve access to a key market, the KSA,” Randy Kleinman, the attorney for Al-Ahmed, wrote in the complaint.

Twitter declined to comment.

How Western Social Media Can Do More Than Just Pay Lip Service to Uphold Freedom of Speech

Twitter’s recent banning of accounts critical of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is deplorable. But it also forces us to really start considering how Western social media and big tech companies can defend freedom of speech, instead of being used as tools against us by authoritarian states such as the Chinese regime.

The issue of tech-based freedom of speech platforms, and the damage they can do to free societies if left entirely unregulated, is not exactly a new one. In recent years, however, it has become even more troublesome, as authoritarian states have taken to using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and even LinkedIn to wage disinformation campaigns, affect elections, split and divide a society, and in general, cause havoc.

When called upon to take proper action against authoritarian states that undermine free societies, the tech companies have had a rather consistent defense—namely that their platforms will ultimately bring greater freedom of speech, and therefore they should not be forced to take action. While it seems like an honorable argument, it’s a hollow and ignorant one, especially at this point in time. The prospect of making more money is what prevents the big tech companies from taking any real action. Mark Zuckerberg has tried to woo the Chinese regime by asking CCP leader Xi Jinping to name his unborn child back in 2015, or when he went jogging in a heavily polluted Beijing—these are images that no PR campaign will ever be able to counter. It showed Zuckerberg’s real allegiance to the CCP, and it certainly wasn’t freedom of speech.

Epoch Times Photo

These arguments, thoroughly debunked, are no different than when monarchists argue for keeping the monarchy because it brings undefined economic benefits, which has never actually been proven, or when business lobby groups argue against actions that counter Beijing’s economic and trade violations because they believe free trade will somehow lead to democracy, freedom of speech, and rule of law in China. We know that belief is hollow and false, but it keeps on repeating until some part of us just accepts it.

Dealing with fake news and disinformation within our societies will certainly be a long and difficult march. But when it comes to dealing with China, Russia, and other authoritarian or neo-totalitarian states that use our own tools of freedom of speech against us, the solution is actually really simple.

Take Twitter, for example. If a state blocks its people’s access to Twitter, then block the state’s access to the social media platform, including government officials. This should apply to the Chinese regime as it has officially blocked Twitter in mainland China. However, some citizens have been able to circumvent the “great firewall” and major Chinese companies can access Twitter through a government approved VPN.

Such a policy wouldn’t even have to touch upon the thorny issue of what can or cannot be said on such platforms. Instead, it would zero in on one simple question: Does the state using the platform allow its own people the same access? If not, then it’s out: access for access.

Not only would this policy add real pressure on authoritarian states to open up access to such tools for its people, but it would severely limit their abilities to use others to sow disinformation in the United States, affect outcomes in elections in the United Kingdom, or try to split and divide the European Union.

Safeguard Defenders has campaigned against China’s state broadcasters, CGTN and CCTV, and has seen them taken off the air in several countries. For China, it is a loss of prestige. But in reality, Beijing’s disinformation work is almost entirely carried out on social media, with few viewers of its stale news shows on TV. In fact, after CGTN’s license was revoked in the UK, an informant told Safeguard Defenders that the media company replaced its “social media first’ policy with a ‘social media only’ policy. It knows what really matters.

An “access for access” policy would be straightforward, fair, predictable, open, and as a bonus, rather easily applicable. No dictatorship could cry wolf, because with such an open and fair policy the outcome would be entirely on them.

Give those who block freedom for its people a simple choice, and leave that choice to them.

My greatest surprise is the fact that as an option and as a way forward, it is not even discussed. It seems, somehow, to be out of bounds, outside of people’s imaginations. Considering the resources needed in combatting bots, in seeking pedophiles and those committing cyber crimes online, implementing such a policy would be easy in comparison.

To better manage disinformation online is going to be a long and epic struggle, and at this time no one has all the answers. However, there are areas that are black and white, and while we ponder the bigger issues of disinformation, it’s a good place to start.

It’s time for our social media giants to take some actual steps to defend and promote freedom of speech, instead of merely giving us empty gestures.

Dan Crenshaw Nails Twitter for Hypocrisy of Letting Kyrsten Sinema Bathroom Video Stand

Texas Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw called out Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Tuesday over a recent video of Arizona Democratic Sen. Krysten Sinema being harassed in a bathroom, asking whether she is “liberal enough” for the social media giant to enforce its rule against bullying.

Crenshaw’s tweet included a screen shot of Twitter’s bullying rule.

“We prohibit behavior that encourages others to harass or target specific individuals or groups with abusive behavior,” the rule states.

“This includes, but is not limited to; calls to target people with abuse or harassment online and behavior that urges offline action such as physical harassment.”

“Hey [Jack] just wondering if you’re going to enforce this bullying rule? Or does it not count when the victim isn’t liberal enough?” Crenshaw asked.

Crenshaw is one of a growing number of Republicans who have publicly spoken out against the bathroom video incident.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz blasted CNN commentator Ana Navarro-Cardenas for seemingly justifying the harassment in a Tuesday tweet.

“Ridiculous. [CNN] “journalist” rationalizing & justifying harassing Sinema in the women’s bathroom,” Cruz tweeted. “Unacceptable, regardless of your politics.”

Sinema responded Monday to the activist who recorded the video while following the senator into a restroom at Arizona State University on Sunday night, calling the action “unacceptable” and “unlawful.”

“Yesterday’s behavior was not legitimate protest,” Sinema said in a statement.

“It is unacceptable for activist organizations to instruct their members to jeopardize themselves by engaging in unlawful activities such as gaining entry to closed university buildings, disrupting learning environments, and filming students in a restroom,” the senator added.

Sinema said the actions were “wholly inappropriate.”

“In the 19 years I have been teaching at ASU, I have been committed to creating a safe and intellectually challenging environment for my students. Yesterday, that environment was breached. My students were unfairly and unlawfully victimized,” she said.

Ghoulish Fact-Checkers at Twitter Slap ‘Misleading’ Label on Obituary of Mom Who Died from Vaccine-Induced Blood Clot

Jessica Berg Wilson’s obituary described the Seattle woman as “an exceptionally healthy and vibrant 37-year-old young mother with no underlying health conditions” who “died unexpectedly on Sep. 7 from COVID-19 Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT).”

The obituary on Legacy.com continued: “Jessica fully embraced motherhood, sharing her passion for life with her daughters. Jessica’s motherly commitment was intense, with unwavering determination to nurture her children to be confident, humble, responsible, and to have concern and compassion for others with high morals built on Faith.”

“Jessica’s greatest passion was to be the best mother possible for Bridget and Clara. Nothing would stand in her way to be present in their lives,” it said. “During the last weeks of her life, however, the world turned dark with heavy-handed vaccine mandates. Local and state governments were determined to strip away her right to consult her wisdom and enjoy her freedom.

“She had been vehemently opposed to taking the vaccine, knowing she was in good health and of a young age and thus not at risk for serious illness. In her mind, the known and unknown risks of the unproven vaccine were more of a threat.

“But, slowly, day by day, her freedom to choose was stripped away. Her passion to be actively involved in her children’s education—which included being a Room Mom—was, once again, blocked by government mandate. Ultimately, those who closed doors and separated mothers from their children prevailed.

“It cost Jessica her life. It cost her children the loving embrace of their caring mother. And it cost her husband the sacred love of his devoted wife. It cost God’s Kingdom on earth a very special soul who was just making her love felt in the hearts of so many.”

This very sad story was made even worse by the Twitter Police.

When a Twitter user shared Wilson’s obituary on Friday, adding in the caption that she had not wanted to get vaccinated, the post was slapped with a warning label.

“This Tweet is misleading,” it said. “Find out why health officials consider COVID-19 vaccines safe for most people.”

It provided a link so users could “find out more,” adding, “This Tweet can’t be replied to, shared or liked.”

Here is a screenshot of the Twitter warning label, which apparently was removed after many users complained about it.

This is what popped up if you clicked on the retweet button.

Election Manipulation Nightmare: DeSantis Opens Investigation Into Facebook

Misleading? On the contrary, it’s very clear. A healthy young woman, who believed that the vaccine posed a greater risk to her health than contracting the virus itself, was forced to comply with the school’s vaccine requirement for visitors if she wanted to be involved in her children’s classrooms.

She took the vaccine and then died of a vaccine-induced blood clot. She was one of the unlucky ones.

The author of the tweet was not misleading readers, either. She was simply mourning the loss of a young mother who would not have gotten the vaccine (and therefore likely would not have died) had she not been forced to.

Nobody was trying to convince others not to take the vaccine or claiming that it will cause mass deaths.

I am not anti-vax. Vaccines are a potent tool in the fight against COVID. That said, these vaccines do pose a risk to some individuals. Some might have medical reasons for rejecting the vaccine, and others are highly skeptical about taking a vaccine that was developed so quickly. Not everyone needs to be vaccinated.

This is tyranny, and it’s hard to believe this is happening in America.

Trump Asks Judge to Reinstate His Twitter Account, Says Company Was ‘Coerced’ Into Banning Him

Former President Donald Trump on Friday asked a federal court to reinstate his Twitter account, saying in an injunction request that the social media company was “coerced” by lawmakers into banning him.

“[Twitter] exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” the legal filing said in part, according to Reuters.

Trump also pointed out in the filing that leaders of the Taliban are currently allowed on Twitter.

The request was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

In July, Trump sued Twitter, Facebook and Google, accusing the Big Tech giants of unfairly censoring conservatives.

Video of ‘Furious’-Looking Pelosi at Congressional Baseball Game Blows Up Online

The former president was banned from Twitter on Jan. 8 amid a gauntlet of criticism over the riot at the U.S. Capitol by some of his supporters a few days earlier.

It was later revealed that the FBI had planted people in the crowd that entered the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Twitter issued a blog post on the day of the ban describing the then-sitting president as a threat to society.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company said.

One tweet cited for Trump’s ban read, “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Twitter called that tweet dangerous, claiming it was “highly likely to encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

In the weeks leading up to the ban, Twitter had turned to censoring and flagging Trump’s tweets regularly.

While Twitter said Trump’s ban was to prevent violence, no one was censored or kicked off the platform for supporting the riots following the death of George Floyd in 2020.

Additionally, prominent establishment media personalities who condoned the violence on Twitter, such as CNN host Don Lemon, were allowed to keep their accounts.

Trump Issues Warning About Dangerous Provision Democrats Have ‘Snuck Into’ Spending Bill

The official “Don Lemon Tonight” account tweeted a clip of Lemon applauding the often violent and destructive riots.

Not only did Twitter allow high-profile Democrats to glorify violence on its platform, but the company seemingly purged thousands of conservative accounts in the days after the Capitol incursion.

Twitter Bans MAGA Candidate Jarome Bell After Newsweek Demands Censorship

Newsweek recently ran an article calling for the 27 year Navy vet to be banned

Jarome Bell, a 2022 candidate for U.S. House in Virginia’s 2nd district, was suspended from Twitter Thursday following the publication of a Newsweek article that called on the platform to censor him over a tweet advocating for those tried and found guilty of election fraud to face the death penalty. The suspension follows a similar incident just one month ago when Twitter locked Bell’s Twitter account after determining that he had violated the Taliban’s “right to privacy.”

“Audit all 50 states. Arrest all involved. Try all involved. Convict all involved. Execute all involved. #MaricopaCountyFraud,” Bell, posted to Twitter on September 24th, following the explosive release of findings in the Maricopa County election audit. Bell has been a staunch supporter of election integrity efforts and has called for election audits in all 50 states. His efforts towards election integrity have helped net him the endorsements of General Michael Flynn and Arizona audit champion, State Senator Wendy Rogers.

Quoting heavily from responses to the Tweet by anti-Trump ex-GOP Congressman Denver Riggleman, as well Fred Wellman of the disgraced Lincoln ProjectNewsweek published an article three days after the tweet was posted titled “Twitter Won’t Remove Pro-Trump Candidate’s Call to ‘Execute’ Election Fraudsters.” The article highlighted left-wing outrage over Bell’s call to investigate and try those suspected of stealing a presidential election in the United States of America and claimed that the Arizona audit had “upheld President Joe Biden’s win.”

“The tweet prompted outrage, and many questioned why Twitter had not removed it under its policy prohibiting the glorification of violence,” Newsweek reported. “On Monday, a Twitter spokesperson told Newsweek: “The tweet you referenced is not in violation of the Twitter Rules.”

Now, two days following the publication of Newsweek’s article calling for Bell to be censored, Twitter has suspended the congressional candidate from the platform. Additionally, it appears that Bell’s massive collection of followers has been erased from his profile, as well as his former tweets, and his account no longer appears in Twitter search results.

Jarome Bell Twitter
In a statement to National File, Bell blasted China-tied big tech and their censorship policies, accusing them of election meddling and questioning why a black patriot would be kicked off the Twitter platform when open pedophiles, as well as Taliban terrorists, operate on the site with impunity.

“This is what happens when you are over the target and shooting missiles at bunkers and busting everyone,” Bell said. “The Taliban and pedophile accounts are still active but a black conservative trying to save Virginia and this country gets silenced by the big tech communists that are allowed to run wild in what we used to know as the land of the free and the home of the brave,” he continued. “China-controlled Twitter and Facebook have been given free rein to meddle in U.S. elections.

As previously reported by National File, just one month ago, Twitter locked Bell’s account after he posted a video exposing a barbaric Taliban execution because the big tech corporation determined he had violated the Taliban’s “recognized right to privacy.” Additionally, Bell’s Twitter account was suspended in 2020 when he was seeking the GOP nomination to Congress in Virginia’s 2nd District for the first time. His account was only brought back online after the nomination process, and he had to start from scratch with no followers as if it were a new account.

Bell has taken on big tech before, and recently filed a lawsuit against Facebook in federal court, alleging anti-Christian censorship and electioneering in favor of Democrat candidates.

“These tyrants want to keep the internet under lock and key so as to prevent the rise of Donald Trump’s America First populism,” Bell said in a press release at the time his suit was filed. “And I’m here to stop it.”

Twitter Censored Dr. Baric’s CV and Its Documentation of Gain-of-Function Research and Me for Accurately Reporting the Bombshell Story

The Intercept’s recent FOIA results added abundant documentation of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s funding, using U.S. tax dollars, for dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab—funding that Fauci had denied in testimony to Sen. Rand Paul; funding, indeed, that I had tried to share with the public on Twitter in early June, the day before Twitter deplatformed me permanently.

The Intercept’s FOIA trove adds important detail to existing documentation of that NIH-funded gain-of-function research and its potential links to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. Natalie Winters of The National Pulse has been out front with this story before The Intercept confirmed it separately.

So was I. Indeed, my own deplatforming from Twitter followed my having pinned private detective Brian O’Shea’s (disclosure, my husband’s) reading of Dr. Ralph Baric’s full CV, which linked this North Carolina researcher to gain-of-function work funded by Fauci’s agency. Twitter has yet to tell me exactly why I was kicked off its platform and blocked from sharing this well-sourced information with my 145,000 followers.

Twitter went so far as to deplatform me and then slander me across the globe: news reports mis-stated—via a Twitter spokesperson—that I’d been deplatformed for “vaccine misinformation.”

The First Amendment in the United States means that the government cannot outright censor critics or opponents; but the private sector—in this case Big Tech—is clearly aligned to do the dirty work of the administration.

I was accused of “Madness” (The New Republic), of having “always struggled with the truth,” of being an “anti-vaxxer.” Matt Gertz of Media Matters and CNN charged me with “pushing increasingly bonkers conspiracy theories”; he did so on Twitter, a platform on which I am no longer able to respond.

It seems my real crime may have been asking questions that other reporters have failed to ask, and in sharing information that undermines Fauci’s claims to Congress.

This very public silencing of a critic of pandemic-related “lockdowns” and of a debunker of Fauci’s denials of having ever funded gain-of-function research was no doubt meant to chill other critics. I received countless emails from other reporters and influencers stating that they supported me, but were scared to say so publicly, lest they be deplatformed as well.

Millions in Funding

Baric’s CV details millions of dollars in funding from the NIH and NIAID, including funds for a “gain-of-function” study. Baric’s research, according to Vanity Fair, could be described as “gain-of-function” research. Indeed, Baric sat on a “gain-of-function” research committee.

This CV is troublesome to the Biden administration, current patron of Big Tech, and beneficiary of its current wave of censorship, because it creates links between this research and Fauci, who has become this administration’s brand centerpiece and key re-election strategy talking point.

Fauci stated directly to Senator Rand Paul in May 2021 that the NIH had NOT funded “gain-of-function research.” Indeed the NIH went even further when this question was raised, and denied ever funding research that would have made viruses more infectious to humans.

But Baric’s CV shows evidence to the contrary. His research on coronaviruses in bats—finding that “synthetic recombinant bat SARS-like coronavirus is infectious”—and research on the transmissibility of coronaviruses to other species, including bats, mice, and humans, goes back many years. (You can see “McRoy, W. and Baric, RS. 2004. Mechanisms of coronavirus cross species transmission” on p. 14.  “Becker, M.M., Graham, R.L., Donaldson, E.F., Rockx, B., Sims, A.C., Sheahan, T., Pickles, R., Corti, D., Johnston, R.E., Baric, R.S. and Denison, M.R. 2008. A synthetic recombinant bat SARS-like coronavirus is infectious in cultured cells and in mice” on p. 17.  “Rockx, B., Corti, D., Donaldson, E., Sheahan T., Stadler K., Lanzavecchia A., and Baric, R.S. 2008. Structural Basis for Potent Cross-Neutralizing Human Monoclonal Antibody Protection Against Lethal Human and Zoonotic SARSCoV Challenge”  on p. 17.)

The CV of Baric’s lab assistant E F Donaldson even more clearly details work done with Baric to, as Donaldson puts it, “resurrect bat coronaviruses to determine the cross species transmission” and “I am currently employed as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, working in the lab of Dr. Ralph Baric. I am funded by the NIAID to conduct a study looking at the viruses in bats and studying how viruses cross the species barrier to emerge into new populations. In addition, I am working with Dr. Baric to resurrect bat coronaviruses to determine the cross species transmission potential of a variety of novel coronaviruses identified in bats.” The work detailed here took place when Dr Fauci was the NIAID director.

E F Donaldson also received hundreds of thousands of U.S. tax dollars in NIH/NIAID funding to study bat coronaviruses’ cross-species’ infectiousness, in a bat roost with “seven to twelve” different species, located, alarmingly enough, right here at home—in  Maryland: “Donaldson 9/12/09 – 8/31/11 NIH/NIAID $301,000 10% FTE Metagenomic Analysis of the virome of Eastern North American Bats. The major goals of this project are to define the virome of seven to ten different bat species that cohabitate in one roost in Maryland to determine the viral population of each and define the role of orthologous receptors to viral cross-species transmission.” That’s on p. 4.

E F Donaldon’s CV also notes a 2011-16 request to the NIH for $1.85 million in funding for SARS-related bat coronavirus cross-species infectiousness research: “Donaldson 07/01/11 – 06/30/16 NIH $1,850,000 25% FTE Cross species emergence of coronaviruses from bats. This work builds upon our ARRA grant, which allowed us to discover a novel Coronavirus in bats that is closely related to a human pathogen, human Coronavirus 229E. The major goals of the proposal are to characterize the coronaviruses found in bat species in the northeastern United States, by sequencing several bat fecal samples to determine the complete genomic sequences, isolate and/or synthetically resurrect these coronaviruses using in silico biology, and assess the ability of these viruses to emerge into the human host.”

That newsworthy grant, to see if bat coronaviruses could emerge “into the human host,” is on p. 5.

Dr. Fauci had stated flatly to Sen Paul, on national television, that he had not funded “gain-of-function” research in the Wuhan lab. But Baric himself described his research as “gain of function,” in a workshop linked to the NIH, called—wait for it—“Potential Risks and Benefits of Gain of Function Research.”

“Dr. Ralph Baric, University of North Carolina […] explained that GoF [Gain of Function] experiments for CoV research encompass a very diverse set of experiments that are critical to the development of broad-based vaccines and therapeutics.”

Censorship and Liberty

The video I posted of Baric’s CV detailing Fauci’s funding of Baric’s gain of function research, had received 74,000 views when I was permanently suspended from Twitter.

It’s very serious that such a newsworthy and important piece of reporting—Baric’s CV—got erased from our social media universe and that I was publicly ridiculed as a punishment for attempting to open this discourse to the public.

Republicans have been pressing for investigations of the origins of the coronavirus. Without Baric’s CV, Americans do not have all the relevant information.

How is it that Twitter (and Youtube, which also froze my account, although it later restored it) went as far as heavy-handed, outright censorship of my findings? There is nothing in my sharing of this information that presents misinformation as their spokesperson apparently reported to the press as the reason for banning me. The social media companies have yet to tell me that what I posted that was inaccurate.

Sadly, Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook are now closely allied to the DNC and the Biden administration, which is one reason it is important to further unredact what Mark Zuckerberg had to say to Fauci via email, correspondence that belongs in the public domain given its content is of great public interest, and Fauci is a public servant.

I’m a lifelong Democrat and I voted for President Biden, but in the wave of deplatforming of conservative voices after the inauguration, I saw the danger to our system of this unholy alliance.

I don’t care much about personal attacks. I won’t be bullied or silenced. But I do care that American citizens deserve a free press and open debate, and that they risk losing it due to censorship by Big Tech.

We deserve every bit of information that could allow for a better understanding of the gain of function research that may have been related to the virus that has debilitated world economies and affected millions, as does the rest of the world. Big Tech, with its compromised platforms, should have no say in whether such information survives a committee of millennials deciding, in an airy workspace, on what may or may not be read by other free peoples around the world.

Without a free press our country could not have been born. And if we allow random personal smears and Big Tech censorship of important news stories to derail our governance and to keep our people ill-informed, our state of liberty cannot survive.

Blinken Replaces ‘We Stand With the People of Hong Kong’ Message With Milder Version on Twitter

A Twitter post from the account of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that said the United States would “stand with the people of Hong Kong” was recently taken down and replaced with a more subdued version.

Blinken’s statement was addressing news on Sept. 15 of how seven democratically elected Hong Kong opposition district councillors were disqualified after their oaths of office were deemed invalid. That determination came after a loyalty test in the form of a vetting and screening mechanism implemented by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that ensures Hong Kong politicians are “patriotic.”

The initial post, shared on Sept. 16, reads, “Beijing should let the voices of all Hong Kongers be heard. The PRC’s disqualification of district councillors only weakens Hong Kong’s long-term political and social stability. We stand with the people of Hong Kong & continue to support their human rights & fundamental freedoms.”

The post was deleted on Sept. 16, and a separate message addressing the same issue appeared on Blinken’s Twitter account on Sept. 17: “The PRC’s disqualification of seven pro-democracy district councillors undermines the ability of people in Hong Kong to participate in their governance. Governments should serve the people they represent. Decreasing representation goes against the spirit of Hong Kong’s Basic Law.”

The PRC’s disqualification of seven pro-democracy district councilors undermines the ability of people in Hong Kong to participate in their governance. Governments should serve the people they represent. Decreasing representation goes against the spirit of Hong Kong’s Basic Law.

— Secretary Antony Blinken (@SecBlinken) September 16, 2021

The message, posted at 5:29 p.m. ET, did not express that the United States would “stand with the people of Hong Kong,” and was interpreted by many online as being a more subdued message compared to that in Blinken’s initial Twitter post.

State Department Spokesperson Ned Price later shared the same message as Blinken’s initial post with the phrase “We stand with the people of Hong Kong.” It was shared at 6:05 p.m. ET on Sept. 17.

Beijing should let the voices of all Hong Kongers be heard. The PRC’s disqualification of district councilors only weakens Hong Kong’s long-term political and social stability. We stand with the people of Hong Kong & continue to support their human rights & fundamental freedoms.

— Ned Price (@StateDeptSpox) September 16, 2021

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Price’s Twitter account had also previously shared the same message on Sept. 16, but deleted it that day. The Epoch Times could not verify the report.

In a emailed statement to The Epoch Times, the State Department spokesperson said, “The team that manages the Secretary’s twitter account mistakenly sent the tweet intended to come from the spokesperson. We fixed that error and tweeted from both accounts, speaking out about Hong Kong authorities’ disqualification of pro-democracy district councilors.

“Suggestions that this administrative change was somehow motivated by political concerns is patently untrue. The tweets affirm—in words and in meaning—that the United States stands with the people of Hong Kong. We urge the PRC to allow the people of Hong Kong to meaningfully participate in their governance.”

Blinken previously used the phrase “We stand with the people of Hong Kong” on Aug. 5. He has also previously repeatedly issued criticisms of the CCP’s actions toward Hong Kong.

The Chinese foreign ministry’s Hong Kong office issued a statement on Sept. 17, condemning “irresponsible comments from certain U.S. politicians” on Hong Kong, reported the SCMP. The statement said that “no U.S. slanders” would deter the CCP from ensuring “patriots administering Hong Kong.”

The statement also accused the seven now-disqualified Hong Kong opposition district councillors of having “smeared the Chinese central government and the HKSAR government, stood on the side of anti-China, destabilizing forces in Hong Kong and interfered in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs as a whole.” HKSAR is the acronym for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

FEC Commissioner: Twitter Block of NY Post Hunter Biden Story Did Not Violate Campaign Finance Law

FEC concludes that ‘Twitter is a publisher’

The head of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) said Twitter did not violate campaign finance laws by blocking a report from the New York Post about Hunter Biden’s laptop and alleged overseas business dealings last year, although the social media platform may have been biased in favor of then-candidate Joe Biden.

FEC Commissioner Sean Cooksey, in a three-page document (pdf) released Wednesday, said Twitter may have had political motives by blocking the articles about the younger Biden, which the NY Post and others have decried as an act of censorship, but the social media site’s decision wasn’t a political contribution to Biden’s campaign against former President Donald Trump.

“The Commission’s approved Factual and Legal Analysis concludes that Twitter was simply enforcing preexisting, commercially reasonable policies to protect its product quality and business interests. According to the Commission, none of the behavior at issue was for the purpose of influencing the 2020 presidential election,” he wrote, adding: “I’m not so sure.”

“In my view, the record doesn’t establish whether Twitter was consistently enforcing a politically neutral business policy or using its platform to support one candidate over another. But I also think the answer to that question is ultimately irrelevant,” Cooksey also said, concluding that “Twitter is a publisher with a First Amendment right to control the content on its platform and to favor or disfavor certain speech and speakers.”

As a result, he argued, “Its conduct therefore falls under the FEC’s media exemption, doesn’t qualify as an expenditure or contribution, and doesn’t violate campaign-finance law.”

Documents released on Wednesday show that three Republican commissioners sided with the FEC’s two Democrats and one independent to reject a complaint from the Republican National Committee that Twitter violated campaign finance laws.

FEC Vice Chairman Allen Dickerson and Commissioner James Trainor III wrote (pdf) in their justification that while “Twitter vigorously maintains that its decision to throttle the sharing of the Post articles at issue… resulted from the evenhanded application of its content moderation policies.”

“Given Twitter’s clear denials and lacking any indications, other than pure conjecture, to the contrary, the Commission found that these allegations simply did not meet our evidentiary standard and voted accordingly,” they opined.

The decision not to penalize Twitter will likely trigger calls to reform or abolish Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act that serves as a liability shield for major platforms. The law’s critics say that Big Tech companies should lose those protections if they operate akin to a publisher rather than a neutral platform, while some have said that social media websites now effectively operate as a “public square.”

Twitter Blocked Hunter Laptop Story After Intelligence Officials Shared Hack ‘Rumors’

Twitter exec who testified to FEC called the Trump team ‘Nazis’

Twitter blocked a story about Hunter Biden’s laptop after U.S. intelligence officials shared “rumors” that Biden would be the target of a hack, an executive with the social media company told the Federal Election Commission.

Yoel Roth, the head of Twitter’s Site Integrity Team, cited the information from U.S. intelligence officials to justify Twitter’s decision to block access to a series of New York Post articles published in October detailing emails found on Biden’s laptop. A conservative group filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing Twitter of giving an illegal campaign contribution to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign by blocking access to the articles.

Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites have long faced allegations of bias against conservatives. Roth, who helped develop Twitter’s policy of labeling misleading posts, came under fire last year over tweets in which he called Donald Trump and his team “ACTUAL NAZIS.” He also called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) a “bag of farts,” Fox News reported. Brandon Borrman, a former Twitter executive who was named in the FEC complaint, recently joined an anti-Republican super PAC aligned with the Lincoln Project.

The six-member Federal Election Commission voted unanimously to dismiss the Republican complaint, according to documents released Wednesday. The bipartisan commission accepted Twitter’s claim that it blocked the articles for commercial purposes rather than for political reasons.

The commission pointed to Roth’s testimony that U.S. officials warned him individuals close to political campaigns would likely be targeted in “hack-and-leak” operations close to the election. Roth said he met frequently throughout 2020 with government officials to discuss election security. He said he learned in one of the meetings that “there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden.”

While the commissioners did not weigh in on whether Hunter Biden was hacked, no evidence has emerged that he was. A computer repair shop owner in Delaware claimed that Biden dropped his computer off for repairs in April 2019 and never retrieved it. The shop owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, has released documents showing that he provided Biden’s laptop to the FBI in late 2019.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware is investigating Biden over his taxes and foreign business dealings. Biden has said he is not certain what happened to his laptop. He has admitted to being in the midst of a drug and alcohol binge around the time he allegedly lost his computer.

‘TaliBAN:’ Street Art Denouncing Twitter Censorship Covers San Francisco

Art denouncing Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey as the leader of the “TaliBAN” appeared across San Francisco on the eve of September 11th, depicting Dorsey as a bearded mullah.

The art appeared in various locations around the city, including outside city hall, at bus stations, and outside Twitter’s headquarters on Market St. The art references Republican political candidate Laura Loomer and cartoonist and Islam critic Bosch Fawstin, both of whom are banned from the platform.

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) drew attention to the artwork on Twitter.

Someone has compared Twitter’s decision to ban and censor president Trump while allowing the Taliban to have free Twitter reign to the TaliBAN and called for protest #operationTaliBannedpic.twitter.com/L8ORNGz1pT
— Paul Gosar (@DrPaulGosar) September 11, 2021

Loomer, who is contesting the Republican primary for Florida’s 11th congressional district in 2022, said the artwork was designed to draw attention to the fact that members of the Taliban are able to use Twitter freely while conservatives in the U.S. are frequently banned.

“Twitter has shown they have no problem banning millions of Americans for their constitutionally protected speech, including myself and sitting President Donald Trump during our elections, while they happily provide a platform for recruitment and propaganda for actual terrorists,” said Loomer.

“OPERATION TaliBANNED was created to highlight this absurdity and how Big tech tyrants like Jack Dorsey continue to wage digital jihad on free speech in America with widespread bans rooted in the false Left-wing notion that conservatives and Trump supporters are the real terrorists.”

Fawstin, who is also banned from the platform, concurred.

“The issue with leftist-run tech companies like Twitter is not about whether they have the right to ban people from their platform, it’s about who they consistently target for banning and why, and who they don’t ban, no matter what,” said Fawstin.

“They banned a sitting president, Trump, over the lie that he was the leader of an “insurrection”, which the FBI now admits there was no proof of. Twitter bans Islam critics like me and Laura, acting in full accordance with shariah blasphemy laws, while allowing Islamic terrorists who murder Americans to spread their propaganda on their platform.”

Twitter’s Former Comms Guru Advises Lincoln Project’s Dark Money Offshoot

Twitter’s former communications guru is now advising the Franklin Project, a dark money offshoot of the scandal-plagued Lincoln Project, the Democratic-aligned super PAC widely suspected of enabling a sex pest who preyed on young men and at least one child.

Brandon Borrman spent more than three years as vice president of global communications for Twitter, the controversial tech firm. He left that position in June to serve as a communications adviser for the Franklin Project, a shadowy group that aims to “unify people opposed to partisan dysfunction” in part by developing a “K-12 civics education program it will offer free to local school districts.”

Borrman was working at Twitter in February 2021 when the Lincoln Project appeared to violate the company’s terms of service by sharing hacked materials from its official account. In an ill-advised act of retaliation against former Lincoln Project cofounder Jennifer Horn, the super PAC posted screenshots of Horn’s private messages with a reporter. Neither Horn nor the reporter consented to sharing the messages. Lincoln Project cofounder Steve Schmidt subsequently admitted that he ordered staff to post the questionably obtained materials. Former senior adviser Kurt Bardella admitted he posted the materials online.

Twitter’s policy states that “posting hacked content” is not permitted. Nevertheless, a company spokesman told the Washington Free Beacon and other media outlets the Lincoln Project’s posting of hacked content was not a violation of that policy.

Horn resigned from the Lincoln Project in February, citing the “sickening” behavior of fellow cofounder John Weaver, who left the group amid numerous allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior toward young men. Horn described a culture of toxic masculinity at the disgraced super PAC, alleging she was “never part of, or included in, the Lincoln Project’s inner circle” and was “earning a small fraction of what some of my male counterparts did.” While attempting to negotiate her exit, Horn said, she was repeatedly “yelled at, demeaned, and lied to.”

Since joining the Franklin Project, Borrman’s social media activity has been conspicuously at odds with his employer’s alleged “non-partisan, non-political” status and stated mission of promoting “collaboration tailored to build consensus.” For example, he recently compared the state of Texas to East Germany under communist rule and urged his followers to support Gov. Gavin Newsom (D., Calif.) in the upcoming recall election.

Borrman started working for the Franklin Project shortly after its so-called launch in May, which was glowingly covered by the news blog Axios. The 501(c)(4) nonprofit group is not a new organization but rather a rebranded version of the dark money group Lincoln Project cofounder Reed Galen secretly operated during the 2020 election. Public records indicate that Galen’s dark money group, Project Yellowstone, changed its name to the Franklin Project earlier this year.

Project Yellowstone was, at least on paper, involved in voter education initiatives during the 2020 campaign. Critics have alleged that its true purpose, however, was to funnel cash to the Lincoln Project founders and their associates and to shield these financial activities from public scrutiny. The Franklin Project will be similarly exempt from financial disclosure requirements.

Twitter Permanently Suspends Alex Berenson Over Viral COVID-19 Tweets

Twitter has permanently suspended former New York Times journalist and author Alex Berenson, an outspoken critic of CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus mandates and lockdowns—as well as Big Tech censorship.

“The account you referenced has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation rules,” a Twitter spokesperson told news outlets on Aug. 28, referring to the disease caused by the CCP virus.

Berenson, on his Substack page, also confirmed the suspension, writing: “Goodbye, Twitter.”

“This was the tweet that did it,” he wrote, referring to a now-deleted tweet that downplayed the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. “Entirely accurate. I can’t wait to hear what a jury will make of this. Meantime, guess you’ll be getting more Substacks.”

Berenson later noted that the ban didn’t come as a surprise to him.

“I expected this day was coming,” he wrote. “And Twitter can’t touch my Substack (in fact, it reportedly tried to buy Substack last year, but Substack fortunately said no).”

Berenson also hinted at possibly filing a lawsuit against Twitter over the suspension.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health agencies have said that COVID-19 vaccines “are safe and effective” after clinical trials and say that side effects are rare. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walenksy and others have cited studies saying that vaccines don’t necessarily prevent transmission of COVID-19, but have stated that the shots limit the severity of the illness.

Berenson worked for The New York Times from 1999 until 2010 before becoming a full-time author.

In July, Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisors, criticized Berenson for his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“It’s horrifying … I just don’t get that. I mean, and I don’t think that anybody who is thinking clearly can get that,” he said of the crowd’s response to Berenson’s speech.

Right before his suspension, Berenson had often made note of the results of a preprint Israeli study that found that previous COVID-19 infection provides better protection against the Delta variant than any COVID-19 shot.

“SARS-CoV-2-naive vaccinees had a 13.06-fold increased risk for breakthrough infection with the Delta variant compared to those previously infected, when the first event (infection or vaccination) occurred during January and February of 2021,” the study reads.

SARS-CoV-2 is another name for the CCP virus.

Those who were vaccinated, the study found, were also at a higher risk of being hospitalized when compared to individuals who were previously infected.

Berenson also assailed what he described as Big Tech censorship, writing for the Wall Street Journal in December that the pandemic has ushered in a “new age of censorship and suppression.”

“Information has never been more plentiful or easier to distribute. Yet we are sliding into a new age of censorship and suppression, encouraged by technology giants and traditional media companies. As someone who’s been falsely characterized as a coronavirus ‘denier,’ I have seen this crisis firsthand,” he wrote, with Amazon having twice allegedly blocked the publication of his book.

Facebook-Funded “Researchers” and the New York Times Team Up to Attack Gab

This evening I received an email (shared below) from Davey Alba at the New York Times. Davey explained that “researchers” from two organizations with direct connections to and funding from Facebook were defaming both myself personally and Gab as a whole for spreading “misinformation.”

I’ll get into the baseless and defamatory claims, but first I’d like you to tell you a little more about these two organizations.

Stanford Internet Observatory is led by Alex Stamos who is the former Chief Security Officer for Facebook. The CTO of Stanford Internet Observatory, David Thiel, also worked at Facebook before starting at SIO. Stanford itself is of course widely known as the Ivy League snob school that the “best and brightest” in Silicon Valley all attended and have deep connections to.

The second organization is Graphika. Graphika is a Facebook-funded “research” group whose executive leadership team includes Camille Francois, a woman worked at Google’s infamous censorship technology incubator “Jigsaw,” and Lauren Pencek who previously worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) among others.

The New York Times own reporting confirms that Graphika receives its funding from Facebook and Facebook is also listed as one of Graphika’s top clients right on the front page of their website. Aside from Facebook, Graphika also partners with DARPA, a research and development agency of the United States Department of Defense, along with Google, TikTok, and Pinterest.

Gab will never work with organizations like these and will never subject our community members to the slimy eyeballs of people who wish to “research” them. In fact we have spent years and a considerable amount of our engineering resources to stop these type of “reeeesearchers” from treating our community like lab rats.

Perhaps that’s another reason why Graphika has spent almost an entire year attacking Gab, but I suspect it has more to do with their deep connections to our competitors.

Let’s dive into the email from the New York Times, shall we?

Hi Andrew,
I’m a reporter from The New York Times, where we are writing about some viral posts about the coronavirus that have gained traction online in the past few weeks. I wanted to get your comment on a post by you that the Virality Project — a consortium of research groups focused on misinformation, including the Stanford Internet Observatory and Graphika, among others — identified as misinformation.
You can find their assertions here: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/60025974f9f7920e6b40885b/t/61097813bdc29713648c24bf/1628010515835/Virality+Project+-+0803+Weekly+Briefing+.pdf

I’ve also screenshotted the relevant portion in the document:

Screen Shot 2021-08-06 at 5.47.13 PM.png

Would you have a response to this being labeled as misinformation by this group of researchers?
Hope to hear from you as soon as possible — my deadline is on Monday, Aug. 9, at 12nn ET.
Feel free to call me at XXX-XXX-XXX if you have any questions about our story.
Best,Davey

My response to Davey is as follows:

The news that Lloyd Austin intends to make vaccinations mandatory in the military is two days old: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/sec-of-defense-austin-to-announce-mandatory-vaccine-policy-for-all-active-duty-military

Furthermore, Pfizer and Moderna tested their vaccines on fetal cell lines and J&J used fetal cell lines in vaccination development. https://www.nebraskamed.com/COVID/you-asked-we-answered-do-the-covid-19-vaccines-contain-aborted-fetal-cells

I’m telling the truth. Your Facebook-funded “fact checkers” like Graphika are wrong and are the people peddling disinformation here. My response to them is that they can get bent. I’m reminding tens of millions of people that they have religious liberty and God-given human rights in this country. Deal with it. Jesus is King.

Andrew Torba

I spent all week posting the many dozens of direct messages that I have been receiving on Gab from Military service members and their families who shared their personal stories and experiences with me. I also posted similar stories from those working in healthcare and other various industries.

People are scared, but not of Covid. They are scared of being forced to choose between violating their religious beliefs and giving up control of their own bodily autonomy or losing their livelihood. It’s a position that no human being, let alone a citizen of the United States of America, should have to be in. I choose to share their stories because no one else is.

I then drafted a blog post about my experience reading and sharing these heartbreaking stories and reminded millions of people that in the United States of America we have God-given human rights, including religious liberty. I did this by providing a set of religious exemption templates for Christians to use in the Military and in their workplace.

The post went wildly viral on Gab, Facebook, and Twitter. I also emailed it to millions of people, because people deserve to know that they always have options and the dignity of bodily autonomy and religious liberty.

For doing this both Gab and myself are being defamed for spreading “misinformation,” a totally subjective and ambiguous term that can mean anything the tyrants in power want it to mean.

Ultimately what we are seeing here is an anti-Christian, anti-competitive attack on Gab by organizations who partner with, are funded by, and are staffed by people who worked for our direct competitors.

I am sharing this all with you now to let you know how these wicked people operate and to shine a light on their lies, deception, and anti-Christian attacks. They aren’t just attacking me, they are attacking any and all dissent and opposition to their libido dominandi (lust for power.)

I’m also beating the New York Times to print by emailing this information to millions of people over the weekend. This is how you beat these people at their own game. The time to stand up and speak the truth boldly is now.

God bless you and thank you for reading.

Taliban Leaders Used Twitter and WhatsApp to Help Capture Kabul

Jihadists disseminate messages to Afghan residents on social media platforms

Taliban leaders used Twitter and WhatsApp to spread propaganda and establish control over Kabul as they stormed the Afghan capital over the weekend.

On Monday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that residents welcomed the Taliban and that “the situation in Kabul is under control.” The jihadist group used WhatsApp to disseminate a similar message to Kabul residents as it entered the city. In recent days, Taliban leaders have circulated WhatsApp numbers that Afghan regime officials or soldiers could call to negotiate their surrender.

The Taliban has swept across Afghanistan in the weeks following Biden’s withdrawal of U.S. troops, capturing major cities with little resistance. The Pentagon on Sunday deployed an additional 1,000 troops to Afghanistan to aid evacuation efforts as Afghans and Americans swarmed Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. Administration officials said in July that they expected a Taliban takeover to take months.

The Taliban has used WhatsApp and Twitter for years to share official statements, but in the past week it has escalated its use of the platforms, using WhatsApp to announce new rules for Kabul residents.

On Monday, Mujahid tweeted a warning against looting and unauthorized intimidation of Afghan officials. The Taliban’s “complaint commission” posted WhatsApp numbers for city residents to call “if they face threats from anyone” and set up an emergency broadcast system via the app as well.

Twitter and Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, regularly banned ISIS members from their platforms. But the sites appear to let the Taliban broadcast its messages without incident.

A Twitter spokeswoman told the Washington Free Beacon that it was “proactively removing content that violates our policies.” The spokeswoman linked to a policy banning “hateful conduct” and another that bans “threatening or promoting terrorism.” The spokeswoman did not comment on whether Twitter considers the Taliban a terrorist organization. A Facebook spokesman told the Free Beacon it would take action against accounts maintained by sanctioned groups in Afghanistan, but would not comment on specific cases.

Several Taliban spokesmen have maintained Twitter accounts for years, regularly tweeting updates on negotiations and regional battles. The accounts often post photos and videos from frontlines, which are then copied and shared by pro-Taliban accounts. Only 15 percent of the Afghan population has access to the internet.

Both Twitter and Facebook removed former president Donald Trump after the Jan. 6 riots and have not restored his account, citing “incitement to violence.”

Taliban Leaders Used Twitter and WhatsApp to Help Capture Kabul (freebeacon.com)

Stop Twitter-Enabled Terrorism

My sources along with media reports have made it clear: Big Tech is offering their multi-billion-dollar platforms to terrorists.

Up until yesterday, the Taliban had been using Facebook’s WhatsApp to coordinate their terrorist activities in Afghanistan.

The rapid takeover of Afghanistan was made possible with the messaging tool WhatsApp, which is owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.

For years, I have been screaming about the presence of Islamic terrorists on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This isn’t a new phenomenon.

If you recall, CAIR, an Islamic terrorist organization even lobbied Twitter to remove my account.

As for Twitter, they’re allowing the Taliban to operate freely on their platform despite the group being sanctioned as a terrorist organization under U.S. Law.

Twitter acknowledged that they will continue to allow Taliban communication and coordination to take place on Twitter despite the fact that the Taliban is carrying out a murderous rampage in Afghanistan as I write this email to you.

As President Trump remains permanently banned over fears of “inciting violence”, an actual Islamic terrorist group is allowed to operate on Twitter!

This has to end!

Help fund my new lawsuit against Big Tech. Help me stop them.

The Taliban’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, is on Twitter with 321k followers and growing.

And thanks to Jack Dorsey and Twitter, the Taliban is quickly gaining support around the world.

A Twitter user named Mohammad Abbas from Pakistan tweeted:

Congratulations to the Taliban on their victory over Americans and against NATO. May Allah help the Taliban to run an ideal Islamic government in Afghanistan.

And as American troops are arriving to retake Kabul airport to safely evacuate people, Twitter is allowing coordination like this with Taliban leaders:

The tower of Kabul Airfield should not be taken over by the Americans. They should destroy “this system” after it arrives. – Taliban supporter to Zabihullah Mujahid
Facebook and Twitter are aiding and abetting terrorists!

Yet, here in the United States, we can’t even discuss COVID without censorship! We can’t share our conservative views without being banned! A sitting United States President was banned from Twitter, but Islamic terrorists are free to tweet.

This should be eye-opening to you – it was to me. And it has been for years.

This is no longer just about censorship.

Twitter is a national security threat, an argument I’ve been making for years.

Twitter is allowing terrorists to organize and coordinate the killing of American soldiers and innocent Afghans who are fleeing for their lives.

It’s happening as you read this email!

An administration that took national security seriously would have Twitter shut down by the morning – but we know that won’t happen under the Biden Regime.

So we’ll have to stop them ourselves, and the best immediate shot we have is forcing them to change through the courts . . . and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

The cost has been great to me. Every spare dime I have is going to fund my legal work and I need your help more than ever.

Chip in as much as you can if you can help.

Thanks so much for your support and please, help me keep fighting.

Respectfully,

Laura Loomer

P.S. Tomorrow I have a call with my attorneys to go over the final draft of my initial court filing. During that call, I expect to hear that my retainer has been depleted because this case is MASSIVE. Please give me a hand to keep going.
