For most of 2021, the border crisis has owned the political spotlight. Not long after Joe Biden took office in January, the numbers of encounters and arrests at the border quickly skyrocketed.

Since then, the situation has evidently worsened. The Del Rio bridge mess represents the most recent failure of policy, but border authorities say the crisis is a daily problem.

But Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has a solution — and it’s bound to annoy Democrat leaders.

Given the seemingly endless flood of migrants simply walking into our country, the question now becomes: where do we send them all?

If we’re not willing to deport or even detain them, and we refuse to enforce existing border and immigration laws, we have to figure out how to house them. And that’s where Cruz’s idea comes in.

He’s proposing a new bill that would send migrants directly into Democrat playgrounds.

He first slammed President Biden’s administration for “willingly surrendering the U.S. southern border to dangerous criminal cartels.” And of course, Cruz’s home state of Texas bears the brunt of the onslaught.

So, the Senator believes Democrats should feel what Texas feels every day.

From Fox News:

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced a bill to bring processing centers for illegal immigrants to where the ‘Democrat elites host their cocktail parties.’

Fox News exclusively obtained a press release announcing Cruz’s new bill, the Stop the Surge of Unsafe Rio Grande Encampments (SURGE) Act.

The bill not only makes a strong point, it also takes an obvious jab at leftist elites in D.C.

Cruz is saying that so many of them live in wealthy communities, all of which are a long way from the Texas-Mexico border. As a result, they have no idea just how much the migrant surge damages the country.

That’s where this bill comes in. According to Sen. Cruz, it’s designed:

…to alleviate the massive overload at the southern border by establishing new ports of entry in Democrat-led communities such as North Hero, Vermont, where Bernie Sanders spends his summers, and Martha’s Vineyard, where Democrat elites host their cocktail parties.

Cruz cited the “families, ranchers, and small businesses” in South Texas that suffer due to the extreme border failure.

And he believes that if the D.C. Democrats “had to endure even a fraction of the suffering,” maybe they’d realize just how dangerous the situation really is.

Cruz said that if they did experience it, they’d be quick to build the wall and re-implement former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which border officials said was effective.

The Republican leader also wanted to make it clear that Democrats have talked about amnesty, while “completely ignoring the crisis.

The SURGE Act would open 13 new immigration processing centers around the nation, and that does include high-end locales like Martha’s Vineyard and Governor’s Island in New York.

On top of that, the undocumented travelers would be “transferred to these new ports for processing,” and the “insulated communities” will have to help deal with the crisis.

As far as Cruz concerned, it’s only fair.

Democrats seem to think there’s nothing wrong with countless unregistered foreigners flooding into the country, and that it’s just “racist” to claim there’s a problem.

Except states like Texas know exactly how big of a problem it is — and Sen. Cruz simply wants rich Democrat elites to experience it for themselves.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sen. Ted Cruz has introduced the “SURGE Act,” which would open 13 new processing centers for undocumented travelers.
  • This brings those unregistered migrants to several Democrat playgrounds, including Martha’s Vineyard.
  • Cruz believes the Democrat elites should help “shoulder the burden” of the crisis, which has caused a lot of strife and suffering in Texas.
