Various sources on Capitol Hill have confirmed to Big League Politics that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is working aggressively behind the scenes to twist the arms of conservative lawmakers to prevent them from endorsing Laura Loomer for Congress and even rescind their endorsements in certain cases.
McCarthy is focusing on members of the House Freedom Caucus, in particular Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL), to pressure them out of supporting Loomer in her primary challenge against Rep. Dan Webster (R-FL).
“It’s been brought to my attention by sitting members of congress that Kevin McCarthy has been calling meetings with members and pressuring so-called America First representatives to oppose America First candidates and others like me in our election efforts,” Loomer told Big League Politics.
“In my case McCarthy is actually asking representatives to rescind their former endorsements,” she added.
Loomer has emerged as a threat to oust Webster in the primary, capitalizing on his no show during the impeachment vote against President Trump earlier this year. She has out-fundraised the incumbent, as she did during her run in the 21st Congressional District last year. Now that she is running in the more conservative-leaning 11th Congressional District, Loomer’s fundraising prowess and credibility among the rising America First Republican base has the GOP establishment very afraid.

“It should be up to the voters of district 11 to determine who their representative without Kevin’s bully tactics. Perhaps Kevin should be concerned with actually winning Republican seats instead of sabotaging the campaigns of America First Republicans,” she continued.
If he’s unwilling to do that, maybe he should just join the Democrat Party and be honest about his efforts to undermine the Republican Party,” she added, also claiming that Gaetz attempted to cajole her into running for pro-Trump favorite and U.S. Congressional candidate Anthony Sabatini’s open state house seat in attempt to protect Webster.
